Sailing Paradise: Discovering Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire with Celebrity Equinox
Happy near end of August, Home & Away friends! This month was busy with celebrating birthdays and if it was your birthday, happy August birthday!
I just got back from my annual host travel agency conference with Nexion aboard the Celebrity Equinox visiting the ABC Islands: Aruba, Curacao, and Bonaire. It was an 8 night voyage and fantastic! Before I get into some tips for this itinerary, guess what…your girl got an award! I was selected as Nexion’s Shoot for the Stars award winner! Go Me! And also thanks to all of you Home & Away readers, I appreciate you all in your support for both my travel and real estate businesses!
Ok now on to the good stuff! Below are some of my top must do’s if you plan to visit any of these islands!
1. Aruba: One Happy Island
Conquer Arikok National Park: Venture beyond the beaches and delve into the wild beauty of Arikok National Park. Explore rugged landscapes, hidden caves, and ancient Indian petroglyphs. We took a 4x4 jeep tour throughout the park and it was quite the ride!
Snorkel the Antilla Shipwreck: Dive into Aruba's underwater wonderland and explore the hauntingly beautiful Antilla shipwreck. Snorkel or dive to witness the coral-covered remains of this World War II German freighter. We didn’t get to to this, but definitely heard great things!
Beach Picnic at Baby Beach: Escape the crowds and head to the serene Baby Beach. Set up a delightful beach picnic with local treats and refreshing drinks. The calm, shallow waters make it a great spot for swimming and snorkeling. This was the last stop of our tour and it was cute!
2. Curacao: Where Colors Come to Life
Explore Willemstad's Pastel Paradise: Wander through the UNESCO-listed Willemstad, where candy-colored Dutch colonial architecture lines the waterfront. Cross the iconic Queen Emma Bridge and immerse yourself in history.
Discover Hato Caves: Venture underground into Hato Caves, a mystical world of stalactites, stalagmites, and subterranean pools. Learn about the island's history and folklore while exploring this unique limestone labyrinth.
Relax at Cas Abao Beach: Indulge in the laid-back vibe of Cas Abao Beach, known for its clear turquoise waters and soft white sands. Snorkel or simply float in the gentle waves, surrounded by picturesque scenery. (our fav beach that we visited on this West Island Beach Hopping Tour).
3. Bonaire: Diver's Paradise
Dive the Bonaire National Marine Park: Plunge into the crystal-clear waters of Bonaire and explore the stunning coral reefs of Bonaire National Marine Park. This diver's paradise is a haven for underwater photography and marine life enthusiasts. We did not get to dive or snorkel on this trip, but will for sure do so on our next visit!
Discover Cadushy Distillery: Immerse yourself in Bonaire's local flavors with a visit to the Cadushy Distillery. Uncover the secrets behind the island's unique liqueurs, made from locally grown cactus. Sample a taste of Bonaire's distinct culture while enjoying a guided tour of the distillery. Their rum balls are a must try!!
1000 Steps Beach and Beyond: Embark on a journey to 1000 Steps Beach, famous for its stunning blue waters and vibrant marine life. The name might be a bit misleading, as there are actually fewer steps, but the beauty of the beach is unparalleled. Snorkel, swim, or simply relax on the soft sands, surrounded by breathtaking cliffs and clear seas.
4. Onboard Luxury: Celebrity Equinox
As you sail from one paradise to another, the Celebrity Equinox ensures your journey is as lavish as the destinations themselves. With world-class dining options (my fav was Le Petit Chef - Qsine - went there a whooping 3 times lol), luxurious spa treatments, and entertainment that dazzles, your days at sea will be just as memorable as your time ashore. Indulge in culinary delights at specialty restaurants, catch a comedy show, or simply unwind by the pool or hang out along their “real” lawn on the top deck with a refreshing cocktail in hand.
