5 Destination Photo Shoot Ideas

Last month, Derick and I had our engagement photo shoot …and decided to do a destination one in Carmel, California! We had a trip planned to stay at our timeshare at the Hyatt Carmel Highlands and were joined by our friends Stacey and Scott who were kind enough to do a photo shoot for us (and just happened to also be an amazing photographer couple)!

Destination photo shoots are a great way to capture memories and create unique and stunning photographs. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion like an engagement or baby on the way, or simply want to have professional photos taken in a beautiful location, there are many destination photo shoot ideas and locations to choose from. Here are some additional ideas to inspire your next destination photo shoot:

  1. Cityscape photo shoot: Capture the energy and vibrancy of a city with a photo shoot in a downtown area. Choose a location with iconic landmarks, like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, or with unique architecture, like the Art Deco buildings in Miami's South Beach.

  2. Mountain photo shoot: Take your photo shoot to new heights with a mountain backdrop. Choose a location with a stunning view, like Banff National Park in Canada or the Swiss Alps.

  3. Desert photo shoot: The stark beauty of a desert landscape can create a striking contrast against the subject of the photo shoot. Choose a location with interesting rock formations or sand dunes, like Joshua Tree National Park or the Sahara Desert.

  4. Tropical photo shoot: Capture the lush greenery and vibrant colors of a tropical destination with a photo shoot on a beach or in a rainforest. Locations like Big Sur/Carmel, Hawaii, Costa Rica, or Bali offer plenty of options for stunning backdrops.

5. Historical photo shoot: Take a step back in time with a photo shoot in a historical location, like a castle in Europe or an ancient ruin in Mexico. These locations offer a unique and dramatic setting for a photo shoot.

No matter what type of destination photo shoot you choose, make sure to plan ahead and hire a professional photographer who knows the area well. And most importantly, have fun and enjoy the experience!
